The history of
Kendal dates back to the pre-Roman times, the last queen of
Henry VIII, Katherine Parr was born here in 1512 at Kendal
Castle. The ruins of which can still be seen today.
Kendal is also known as the "auld grey town" due to the fact
it has many fine old houses and buildings, built in grey
limestone.
