"One
of the North's finest ecclesiastical buildings"
The village of Cartmel, grew up around this twelfth century Priory
church which, according to legend, was built between two parallel
streams in response to a ’heavenly voice’.
It survives as the centre of village life, and is a place
of worship, a concert venue and a visitor attraction.

"Any
customer who walks through the doors will never leave as a
customer but as a friend"
This 450-year old coaching inn the oldest in the village and built
within the village walls.
It was one of the coaching stops and you can still see a mounting
block dated 1837 outside the main door. Its age can sometimes be
measured, although painfully, by the low beams and uneven floors.
