This small town in Cumbria is located half way between Maryport and
Wigton on the route of a busy Roman road. The parish church of St.
Kentigern, completed in 1848 replaced a Norman church and
fragments of masonry and crosses are still preserved there.

"The idea of a perfect pub?"
An olde worlde building with oak beams, a cosy
interior and an open log fire. A quiet country
pub where you can get a good plain tasty meal at
a very reasonable cost, accompanied by a glass
of well conditioned local cask ale.
A
place where you may still play traditional games
such as dominoes, darts, or chess without the
accompanying throb of juke box music or clatter
of one-armed bandits.
